I have 6 and 8 year old girls and they love camping, especially if we bring our iPad and other electronic devices for the trip……….hmmmmm.Kids camping
I remember when I was young and when we went camping, it was an opportunity to do things we weren’t able to do at home (or for some reason chose not to).

When you go camping, you are able to talk and hike and talk and fish and talk and swim and talk and boat…you see where I am going! There is no RUSH when you are camping, so whether it’s throwing a frisbee or having a meal, you are able to slow it down and enjoy your time together.

Your kids enjoy the time you are able to spend with them. Maybe it’s a sandcastle, maybe it’s a walk…or maybe it’s just a talk, along a path or along a beach where no one is able to hear your chit chat. A campfire where half of you are laughing, and the other half are just gazing into the campfire, dreaming about something else.

I feel as a parent you don’t need to be entertaining your kids all the time, and that they need to be able to entertain themselves. BUT, it’s also nice to lead the way and show them what you think is important about camping and life in general.
Let’s ramp it up a notch. Kids are going to find out about swimmer’s itch, bee stings, injuries, storms, fire pits…and safety, because their parents are going to introduce all of those things to their kids too.

Seeing your kids standing in a lake at daybreak, in water that looks like glass, will stick in your memory for a long time.

Get into your vehicle, bring your tent, or trailer and go…..make the time, your kids will love it! And if you bring an electronic device for them, only let them use it when the vehicle is moving!!
