You probably already struggle to find enough room for your things at home, and it’s twice as hard to pack up your RV for a trip. You don’t want to leave anything essential behind, but it’s very easy to run out of the limited amount of space that you have to work with. The good news is that you’re certainly not alone. Some RV vacationers insist on traveling with all the comforts of home, and the RV products industry knows that they can make a small fortune by solving a number of common organizational problems. You should always start by asking yourself what’s truly essential for a great trip, and find creative ways to keep everything accessible at all times. Here are a few tips to help you get started. If you have any questions, come see us at Schwab's R.V. World in Leduc, Alberta. We’re also proud to serve travelers and RV enthusiasts in Edmonton, Alberta.

Cabin and Living Areas

Your RV’s setup will determine the best places to adapt or add storage, but all it takes is a little common sense. Sometimes all you need to do is use inexpensive drawer organizers to keep small things from rolling around, and you can add some adhesive hooks to the inside of cabinet doors to keep up with anything that has a cord or a loop on it. Magazine racks can go just about anywhere to store maps and reading materials, and you can use a variety of caddies to keep up with the things that you want to keep out on the table or counter. If you’re always losing your remote, you can even add some velcro and stick it to the wall!

In the Kitchen

Most RV dealerships and outdoor products retailers carry a variety of camping cookware that's more compact and more durable than what you have in your kitchen. You can also install under the cabinet space-saver appliances such as can openers and coffee makers.

There are a lot of great ways to tighten things up in the cabinets and fridge as well. A ceiling-mounted paper plate dispenser is great for families who don’t like washing dishes. A magnetic strip inside a cabinet door is a great way to keep up with knives, scissors and other small tools.

Outdoor Storage

Your basement storage pod doesn’t have to be pretty, but that’s no excuse to let it turn into a pigsty. Large items don’t normally fit into boxes very well, but a few large plastic tubs will keep smaller tools and supplies from rolling around loose while you’re on the road.
