If you are the proud owner of a travel trailer, you’ll want to practice good basic upkeep, which includes regular cleaning. Cleaning inside your camper should be relatively quick and easy as long as you do it regularly. We have provided some tips for some of the biggest problem areas so you know which spaces need to get hit most often.

Floor

With so much outdoor activity, travel trailer floors can get pretty dirty pretty quickly. If you’re doing a top-down spring clean, consider saving your floors for last so you don’t have to redo them. Hand vacuums for carpets can make for a longer vacuuming process, but they’re easier to store. And consider either a compact mop or disinfectant wipes for tile. You might also consider doing touch-ups when needed so the big clean isn’t so hectic.

The Vents

One area in your travel trailer that you’ll want to clean that might be a little different from what you’re used to at home is your vents. Again, because you're working with a small space, these vents will get dirtier faster. This won’t necessarily be a once-a-week or even once-a-month task, but if you do find yourself in need of cleaning out your vents, make sure you hit everything you need to hit. This should include washing out the screens, cleaning the filters, and scrubbing the inside of the vent. Then, leave them open to air-dry faster.

Windows and Countertops

Regularly cleaning other areas can keep things fresh and more enjoyable. Consider cleaning the windows of your travel trailer on a consistent basis. You’ll also want to dust your countertops periodically, including your dashboard (if relevant) and vinyl or leather protector to help extend your furniture's life. And in general, if something looks dirty, take a few seconds to clean it.
