While you may be able to handle a majority of your RV’s basic maintenance tasks yourself, it’s important to have more difficult components—such as your brakes or engine fluids—cared for by a professional. It’s not uncommon for RV parts to wear out or fall apart after a certain amount of time. However, while you’re welcome to replace more simplistic parts such as headlight bulbs or blown fuses, more complicated components such as OEM, engine, or electrical parts should be replaced by a professional. This will ensure that the part is inserted correctly and that it doesn’t wear down excessively due to a botched installation. 

Grinding Sounds or Troubleshooting 

If you notice any suspicious sounds, such as grinding, squealing, or a loud whirring coming from your RV’s engine or appliances, it’s likely a sign you need to get to a service center stat. While it’s not uncommon to hear some quiet buzzing coming from equipment while it’s in use, a sudden increase in volume is likely a sign that the motor has gone into overdrive and something inside needs to be quickly fixed, adjusted, or replaced.
